Docs Getting started
Quick start
From an empty account to a screen playing your content in about ten minutes.
This guide takes you from a fresh account to a screen showing your own content. You need:
- an Info Display account (start a free trial or ask your administrator for an invite);
- a screen running Info Display OS — see installing the OS — or any TV with a supported player box attached;
- your phone.
1. Sign in
Open https://signage.8w.fi/login and sign in. On a phone, use your browser's Add to Home Screen to install the editor as an app — it opens instantly and works like any other app.
If you belong to more than one organisation, pick the one you want to work in. You can switch later under More → Switch organisation.
2. Upload some media
Go to Media and tap Upload (or Camera to take a photo right now). Images up to 50 MB and videos up to 2 GB are accepted. Videos are converted in the background; you'll see Processing… until they're ready.
Shoot and upload in landscape for landscape screens. A 1920×1080 photo fills a Full HD screen exactly.
3. Make a playlist
- Go to Playlists and tap + to create one, e.g. Lobby.
- Open it and tap + to add slides: an image, a video, some text, a clock, a web page or a YouTube video.
- Set how long each slide stays on screen and drag slides to reorder them.
- Tap Preview to watch it exactly as a screen will play it.
4. Create a screen group
Screens are organised in screen groups — all screens in a group play the same thing. Go to Screens, tap New screen group, give it a name (Lobby), choose the orientation and set the default playlist to the one you just made.
5. Connect the screen
Turn the screen on. When it's not yet connected it shows a QR code and an eight-character code.
- Scan the QR code with your phone's camera.
- Choose the organisation, give the screen a name (Lobby left) and pick the screen group.
- Tap Connect.
No camera at hand? Go to Screens → Connect a screen and type the code instead. See pairing for details.
6. Publish
Edits are drafts until you publish. Tap Publish changes on the Screens page. Within a few seconds the screen downloads the new content and starts playing it.
That's it — you have a working screen. From here:
- Add schedule rules to show different playlists at different times.
- Invite your team so others can update content.
- Learn what you can do with a screen remotely in managing screens.
