Media library
Uploading photos and videos, supported formats, processing and storage quotas.
Everything you upload lives in the client's Media library and can be used in any number of slides.
Uploading
- Upload opens your device's file picker. On a phone you can choose several photos and videos from the camera roll at once.
- Camera opens the camera directly — handy for a quick photo of today's specials.
Uploads go straight to storage in the background; you can keep working while they finish. On hosted and S3-backed installations the browser uploads directly to object storage, so large videos don't pass through the API servers.
Supported files
| Kind | Formats | Max size |
|---|---|---|
| Images | JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF | 50 MB |
| Videos | MP4, WebM, QuickTime (.mov), Matroska (.mkv) |
2 GB |
Processing
After an upload, media is prepared for screens:
- Images get a display-sized WebP copy and a small thumbnail. PNGs are kept at higher quality so text and logos stay crisp.
- Videos are converted to H.264 video with AAC audio at up to 1080p, with a poster image for thumbnails and loading. Every player can decode this without hiccups.
While this runs the item shows Processing…. If processing fails (for example, a damaged file) the item shows Failed — delete it and upload again.
Converting a long 4K video can take a few minutes. You can already add it to slides; screens only receive it once it's ready and you publish.
Storage quota
Each client has a storage quota, shown at the top of the Media page (x of y used). Uploads in progress count at their declared size. When the quota is full, delete media you no longer need or ask your company administrator for more space.
Renaming and deleting
Tap a media item to rename it or delete it. Deleting media that's used in a slide is blocked until you remove it from those slides, so screens never end up with a missing file.
