Introduction
What Info Display is, who it's for and how the pieces fit together.
Info Display is a digital-signage platform. You put screens wherever people look — a café counter, an office lobby, a school corridor, a factory floor — and manage what they show from a web app that works just as well on your phone as on a laptop.
What you get
- A mobile-first editor. Upload photos and videos straight from your phone's camera roll, build slides, arrange playlists and publish. The editor is an installable web app (PWA) in English and Finnish.
- Screens that look after themselves. A screen runs Info Display OS (or our agent on any Debian machine). It downloads everything it needs and plays from local storage, so it keeps going through network and server outages.
- QR-code pairing. A new screen shows a QR code. Scan it, pick a name and a screen group, done. No serial numbers, no typing.
- Scheduling. Show the breakfast menu on weekday mornings, the lunch menu from 11 to 14 and a campaign during the last week of the month — each screen group follows its own rules.
- Organisations within organisations. Agencies and resellers manage many clients from one account. Each client has its own people, content, screens and quotas.
- Nothing to run. The service is fully hosted and updated for you. The only things you install are the screens.
How it fits together
| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
| Web app | Where you and your team edit content, manage screens and invite people. Opens at https://signage.8w.fi/app. |
| API server | Stores content, processes media (images to WebP, video to H.264) and builds what each screen should play. |
| Agent | Runs on each screen. Pairs, syncs content into a verified local cache, reports status and carries out remote commands. |
| Player | Full-screen kiosk page the agent serves locally. It renders the same slides you see in the editor preview. |
| Info Display OS | A minimal Debian 13 image for mini PCs and Raspberry Pi that boots straight into the player. |
