Screen groups and schedules
Grouping screens, orientation, default playlists and time-based schedule rules.
All screens in a screen group play the same content. Create groups by place or purpose: Lobby, Menu boards, Break room.
Creating a group
On Screens, tap New screen group and set:
- Name.
- Orientation: landscape, portrait, or either one flipped (for screens mounted upside down). The player rotates its output, so you don't need to change any display settings.
- Default playlist: what plays whenever no schedule rule applies.
Screens join a group when they're paired. You can move a screen to another group at any time from its details.
Schedule rules
A schedule rule plays a different playlist under certain conditions. Each rule has:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Playlist | What to play while the rule is active. |
| Days | Any combination of Monday–Sunday (default: every day). |
| Time window | Optional start and end time, e.g. 11:00–14:00. If the end is earlier than the start the window runs past midnight, e.g. 22:00–02:00. |
| Date range | Optional first and last date, e.g. a campaign from 1 to 24 December. |
| Priority | 0–1000. When several rules are active at once, the highest priority wins. |
Rules are evaluated on the screen itself, in the screen's time zone, so they keep switching on time even while a screen is offline.
Example: café
| Rule | Days | Time | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Breakfast | Mon–Fri | 07:00–10:30 | 10 |
| Lunch | Mon–Fri | 10:30–14:00 | 10 |
| Weekend brunch | Sat–Sun | 09:00–14:00 | 10 |
| Christmas specials | every day, 1–24 Dec | — | 50 |
| Default playlist: Coffee & cakes |
During December the Christmas playlist wins over everything else; the rest of the year the meal playlists apply at their times, and Coffee & cakes fills the gaps.
Keep the default playlist something that's always appropriate. It's what shows whenever no rule applies.
Publishing
Changes to groups and schedules are drafts like everything else — publish to send them to screens.
