Docs Using the editor
Slides
Every slide type and its options — images, video, YouTube, web pages, text, HTML and clocks.
A slide is one item that appears on screen for a while. Add slides from inside a playlist with +.
Common options
Every slide has these settings:
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Name | Optional label shown in the editor. |
| Duration | Seconds on screen (1 s to 24 h). Default 10 s. Video slides can use Until video ends. |
| Transition | How the slide appears: none, fade (default), slide left, slide up or zoom. |
| Enabled | Turn a slide off temporarily without removing it from playlists. |
Image
Shows an image from the media library.
- Fit: cover fills the screen and crops edges (default), contain shows the whole image with bars, fill stretches it.
- Background colour for the bars when using contain.
Video
Plays a video from the media library.
- Muted (default on). Leave videos muted unless the screen has speakers and you really mean it.
- Fit: contain (default) or cover.
- Set the duration to Until video ends to play the whole clip once before moving on.
YouTube
Plays a YouTube video by its ID or link.
- Start and end times in seconds to play just a part.
- Muted (default on) and captions.
YouTube slides stream from YouTube, so they need an internet connection while playing. For screens with unreliable networks, upload the video instead — uploaded media plays from the screen's local cache.
Web page
Shows a live web page (http or https).
- Refresh every N seconds while shown (0 = never) — useful for dashboards.
- Zoom from 25 % to 400 % to fit pages designed for small or large monitors.
Some sites refuse to be shown inside other pages (they send X-Frame-Options or frame-ancestors headers). Info Display OS relaxes this for kiosk playback, but the editor preview may stay blank for such sites.
Text
Big, readable text without needing a design tool.
- Title and body (up to 5,000 characters).
- Alignment: left, centre or right; top, middle or bottom.
- Font: sans (default), serif, mono or display, and a size multiplier from 0.5× to 4×.
- Text colour and background colour, or a background image from the media library.
Text scales with the screen, so the same slide looks right on a 32" and a 75" display.
HTML
Your own HTML, CSS and JavaScript (up to 200 KB), rendered in a sandboxed frame. Scripts run, but the page can't access the player, cookies or other slides. Use it for custom layouts, small widgets or data feeds.
Clock
A full-screen clock.
- Style: digital or analog.
- Show date, show seconds and 12-hour format.
- Time zone: any IANA zone such as
Europe/Helsinki; defaults to the screen's own zone. - Text and background colours.
Tips for good-looking slides
- Keep text short. People walk past signage; aim for something readable in three seconds.
- Use high-contrast colours. Light text on a dark background works best in bright rooms.
- Match your media to the screen group's orientation.
